Here are some questions that may help DVA card holders

Do I have to pay?

You won’t have to ay anything to visit Bay City Health Group in Geelong as we bill DVA directly.

Which DVA cards are accepted?

To receive treatment for Allied Health services such as Osteopathy & Physiotherapy you will need either a Gold Card or a White Card.

If you have a DVA Gold Card you are able to receive treatment for “all medical conditions” whereas a DVA White Card holder is able to receive treatment for “accepted service-related injuries or conditions”.

Can I just book an appointment?

You can make a booking at Bay City Health once you have a referral from a GP. The GP will refer you for a service such as Osteopathy and once you have your referral, you can come in for treatment.

What do I get with a GP referral?

A GP referral givers you 12 sessions for either: 1) your chosen service or 2) a service recommended by the GP.

Interesting fact: You can get a referral for more than one service!

What happens when I’ve use my 12 sessions?

As you’re approaching the end of your 12 sessions our receptionist will let you know. All you need to do then is head back to your GP to get a fresh referral for another 12 sessions.

How we can help

Our aim is to get you moving at your best. To achieve that, we have strong systems in place that enables us to efficiently follow expected protocols regarding your treatment and rehab. We take you through a detailed assessment, and then based on the findings we outline your management for the rest of your 12 sessions as part of the treatment cycle. We record certain measurements during your 1st session and then again during your 12th session (the last session of your treatment cycle) and report back to your GP.

What service is best for me?

There is not one service that is ‘the best’. It depends on what your presentation is and what you respond best to. If, for example, you are receiving exercise rehabilitation but we believe you need manual therapy as well, we’ll recommend for you to talk to your GP (with a letter from us if required) about getting a treatment cycle fro a manual therapy based service such as Osteopathy. Afterall, the point of the ‘DVA treatment cycles’ is to support you with a team based approach led by your GP.

What if I have any questions?

Call us as here at the clinic as we’re here to help. We know it can be complicated, so we’re here for you to answer any questions you may have.

24 years service in the Army had a significant impact on my body. At times just being comfortable was an impossible task. When I found the team at Baycity Health Group that all changed, they have provided exceptional care and assisted me to regain a quality of life that I didn’t think was possible. They are caring, friendly and they understand Veterans
