What is a Physiotherapist and how can one help you?

So what is Physiotherapy? What exactly happens within a Physio consult? Do they perform hands on manual therapy or do they perform exercise rehab? How can Physiotherapy help me? These are all questions about Physiotherapy that we get asked on a daily basis.

Thankfully, our Physiotherapist Steph has written an amazing blog answering all of these questions (and more) to help you understand what a Physiotherapist is and how someone like Steph can help you.

Why choose Bay City Health Group for Physiotherapy?

The Geelong region is blessed to have many fantastic Physiotherapists providing their services in a variety of settings, and choosing a health clinic or a particular Physio can be really difficult. Let us explain why we believe we stand out from the rest:

  • We keep it simple: There is a mountain of information and content out there relating to the human body and musculoskeletal conditions, so what we’ve done is condensed and simplified it all into a basic, easy to understand sequence:

    • Assessment and diagnosis

    • Management plan

    • Manual therapy / treatment

    • Exercise & rehabilitation

    • Home exercise and stretching programs

  • Clinical Pilates: Pilates is front and centre at Bay City Health Group. All all of our Physiotherapists are highly trained in Clinical Pilates, which means once you’ve been through a full assessment, you’ll receive a personalised written program specific to your body and your needs!

  • Treatment & Rehab: Our Physios have had further training in manual therapy techniques to better help reduce your pain, and when combined with their awesome rehab skills it really does make them the great all-rounders of Allied Health world.

  • Consistency: We understand that every practitioner is an individual with their own personality, but thanks to the strong procedures we have in place you will receive the same great care and the same system regardless of the practitioner you see. During training, our systems and procedures are instilled into not just our Physiotherapists, but all practitioners throughout Bay City Health Group.

  • Environment: When using the term ‘environment’, we are referring to the environment that we’ve meticulously created within the clinic / studio that allows and promotes every client to smile, to feel safe & cared for, to feel a sense of belonging and most of all – a place to enable healing and betterment for your body.
