What is Workcover?
Work Cover or WorkSafe is the ‘middle-man’ in helping people injured in a work place accident. They’re job is to assess your injury and if warranted, assign you a Worksafe claim number.
Who pays for Workcover?
WorkSafe don’t actually pay for your access to health services. There are 4 Insurance companies that provide Work Cover insurance to employees. Once WorkSafe has assigned a claim number, your health provider, employer and yourself will deal with a case manager working for the chosen insurance company from there on in.
Who provides services for injured workers?
There are many options for treatment and rehab under Workcover (list of allied health services below), however not all business and health practitioners will take on workcover clients as there is typically more work involved. Below is a list of allied health services registered as providers for Worksafe:
Osteopathy
Physiotherapy
Exercise Physiology
Remedial Exercise
Remedial Massage
Podiatry
Chiropractic
Dietetic Services
Family Counseling
Psychology
Occupational Therapy
Optometry
Speech Pathology

What happens on my first appointment?
In order to receive benefits as a WorkSafe client, you will need an 11 digit WorkSafe claim number. From there you will be required to complete our standard new client form as well as some extra documents specific to your injury to satisfy WorkSafe requirements. You then receive your treatment or rehab like anyone else for the designated time period.
Do I pay on my first visit?
At Bay City Health (and most other health providers) you are required to cover the cost of your first visit, HOWEVER, you will be reimbursed by your Employer. We provide an official invoice for you to take and forward to your Employer so they can refund you your entitlements.
